What does Super Retro Studio actually do?
Super Retro Studio builds visual identity systems for founders and operators who care deeply about their work but whose brand doesn't yet reflect that standard. You get everything to make your business look the part, but more importantly you get a documented, deployable system that works in the real world, print shops, shop floors, inboxes, and timelines.

Why would I hire a specialist studio instead of a freelancer or agency?
Freelancers often execute without diagnosis. Agencies charge for team overhead you don't need. Super Retro sits between both, it runs like a quiet internal brand department: audit first, design second, documentation always. You get strategic rigour without the huge agency invoice.`

I already have a logo. Do I need this?
Possibly not. But a logo isn’t a brand system, it’s one asset. If your brand behaves/looks differently across your website, your packaging, your documents, and your supplier outputs, you don’t have a system. You have a starting point confusing and that’s slowly costing you money.

How is this different from just getting a logo designed?
A logo is a mark, it’s one piece of a puzzle that needs solving. A system is what makes that mark work everywhere it needs to show up, with the right colours, the right type, the right rules, and the documentation for anyone who touches it after you. Super Retro doesn’t deliver marks. It delivers systems.

What’s the BUILD process and why does it exist?
Most branding fails because designers skip straight to aesthetics and how they think things should look before understanding what the brand actually has to do. BUILD is the diagnostic phase that happens before any design work begins. It audits reality, maps problems, researches the market, and defines what success looks like. Design decisions made without these principles are guesses.

What do I actually walk away with at the end?
Depending on the package you choose, typically you can expect to receive the following: a complete visual identity system, logo files in every format you need, a brand guidelines PDF that explains what the system is and how to use it, and a plain-language handoff document your team can follow without a design degree. Plus a diagnosis of why the system was built the way it was, so you can defend every decision when someone asks.
